Slidell is set to open its first production brewery, Wicked Bayou Brewing Company, by the end of the year. The City Council has approved a lease agreement for a decommissioned public building near Bayou Bonfouca to be used by Dirty Dell Brewing Co., LLC, operating as Wicked Bayou. The city will receive $4,000 monthly for the initial 10-year lease, with potential rent credits for site improvements. Ray Masker III, a key figure behind the project, expressed enthusiasm about the brewery’s potential to attract both locals and tourists. The brewery plans a $750,000 renovation of the 5,500-square-foot building to create a beer production facility and taproom, aiming to be operational by November or December. Read more
Despite significant investment and attention in recent years, nonalcoholic beer is projected to constitute only about 3% of the global beer market by 2029. The category experienced a boom with major brewers like Anheuser-Busch InBev, Heineken NV, and Diageo Plc investing heavily. However, despite these gains, nonalcoholic beer currently represents just 2% of the glory bal beer market’s volume.
