Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Marks the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris

The yearlong celebration pays homage to the Napa Valley’s historic triumph at the tasting that changed the course of California wines and continues to influence the future of the dynamic region

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Marks the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris with Estate Experiences, National Celebrations, and Special Releases.

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is leading Napa Valley’s yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris in 2026, honoring the 1976 blind tasting that put California Cabernet on the world stage. The milestone underscores both the winery’s historic 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon victory and Napa’s evolution into a global benchmark for fine wine.

Founded in 1970 and now owned by Italy’s Antinori family, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars will mark the anniversary with estate tastings, international seminars, and a series of national wine dinners spotlighting mature and current S.L.V. vintages. A centerpiece of the program is an October 10 estate celebration bringing together fellow Judgment of Paris wineries, complemented by a dedicated travel guide that encourages visitors to explore the original 1976 participants across Napa Valley.

For collectors, the winery will release a limited Judgment of Paris 50th Anniversary S.L.V. Magnum—just 1,973 bottles sourced from the last remaining block of original 1972 S.L.V. vines—alongside the new 2023 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon. The anniversary also highlights Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars’ future-facing shift to Regenerative Organic Certified farming, positioning the estate among a small group of Napa wineries working to link heritage Cabernet with rigorous soil health, biodiversity, and sustainability standards.
